CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Members shall at all times conduct themselves in a manner, which will preserve the character and interests of the association.

2. Field trips to collect native fish in the wild will be conducted in accordance with a collecting permit, and at all times complying with the laws relating to fish and fishing in the state or territory.

3. Supervision of field trips will be the responsibility of the species control officer.

4. Every care shall be taken in collecting and handling wild fish to minimise stress on the captured specimen and minimise the impact on wild stocks and the habitat.

5. All fish captured shall be reported to the species control officer who will record this information in a register. Any feral fish species caught incidental to the collection of desired species, shall not be returned to the water, but disposed of correctly.

7. Neither wild caught nor captive breed fish shall be translocated to any natural habitat, unless authorised by Primary Industries of South Australia.

8. Every effort should be made to keep different location types of the same species isolated to maintain the integrity of the tribe.

9. In nature, many mechanisms prevent spawning between unlike species, however, in the captive situations these mechanisms may not be present or functional resultig in hybridisation. Where such hybridisation occurs between unlike species or between different location types of the same species, all fl-Y should be destroyed. Under no circumstances shall and hybrids be sold, traded or exchanged.

10. Where hybridisation has occurred and the exact species and/or location types are known, all information regarding the spawning, the number of eggs and their viability, plus any other relevant data shall be reported to the species control officer.

11. Hybrid fry shall only be raised under strict scientific control. Colour photographs and a full description of all generations, (F 1 -Fx) shall be reported to the Species Control Officer.

12. In any spawning, some fry will be sub-standard because of size, colour, deformities

circumstances shall sub-standard specimens be sold, traded or exchanged.

13. The full scientific name and collection location of fish or eggs being sold, traded or exchanged shall be used only if known with certainty. If not known, use only part which is known. For example, Melanotaeneia trifaciata Goyder River or simply Melanotaenia sp. if the species and location names are not known.
